Godre Pentre updates from Chris
The cottage has been popular during the last half of the year owing to SWCC being closed
to visiting clubs for roof repairs.
The problem with the septic system filling up when heavily used now seems to have been solved. Ian
Caterall has offered to give us a new back upstairs window.
We have been discussing buying a flatpack ISO type container (4 x 2.1M, green colour) which has the
advantage that it can be distmantled and moved for a cost of about £3000 in which we could store
the club tackle as Neil is giving it up next year - we would also move the workshop stuff in so we would
then be in a position to get rid of the rail wagon in preparation for building an extension. Some
assistance will be required in setting the container up which we think will be between the BBQ and the
cottage.
For the last few years we have had to pay no rates or council tax as being ‘small business’ exempt;
however, the Welsh government is trying to reduce these exemptions and has increased the number of
nights usage required to qualify, as we have most use over weekends we now could fall under this
criteria and be charged again - hopefully this won’t happen as we are still a tax exempt CASC, otherwise
we will have trouble covering operating costs which introduces another item - the electricity bill which
is now 40% of our operating costs so please turn off lights etc., use the induction hob or microwave in
preference to hobs/oven and also use the internal shower rather than the electric one in the grey shed.
