By agreement with the landowner, the National Park has secured public access to a block of moorland east of Godre Pentre known as Gwaen Cefn-y-Gareg. This area includes the prominent gritstone scar visible on the skyline from the cottage and also includes Pulpit Hole and several other minor cave sites on the gritstone/limestone boundary.
Access is via a stile on the Mellte Castle road at the northern edge of the Forestry.
